Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • Prepare a muffin pan with paper liners.
  • Whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt in a medium mixing bowl.
  • In a large mixing bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  • Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each.
  • Mix in the vanilla extract.
  • In three additions, alternate flour mixture with buttermilk, beginning and ending with flour mixture.
  • Mix until everything is just combined.
  • Mix in the chocolate chips.
  • Fill each muffin cup about two-thirds full with batter.
  • 18-20 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  • Allow to cool for 5 minutes in the muffin tin before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
